Are Welded or Seamless Metal Pipe Nipples Best for My Application?
Welded pipe nipples are created by rolling a single flat piece of metal and welding it into a pipe with a fused seam at the joined edge. Welded nipple pipe fittings are used in low-pressure applications. They are a cost-effective option for systems where budget is a primary concern.Seamless pipe nipples are formed through hollowing out a piece of steel tube. The fitting is then further processed to widen the overall diameter of the pipe nipple. Seamless nipple pipe fittings have a greater pressure tolerance than welded pipe nipples. While they often cost more, seamless nipple fittings perform at a higher level for a longer time.
